Fulbright Scholarships 2009-2010

It is a very prestigious program that is currently open to applications and binds 144 countries together, although its origin is the United States of America.

What is this new offer about?
It is a mobility scholarship to study in the United States during the academic year between 2009 and 2010.

What are the estimated resources?
For the journey , the student will receive an estimated 1.000 Euros, as a support only, which may or may not cover the whole expense of the travel. The Fulbright program also covers course tuitions and university taxes up to 30.000 Euros. Living expenses prior to the beginning of the classes will also be attended (for example, in the cases where preparation courses are needed).

In addition to this, the student will receive an initial 1.000 Euros for academic expenses (books and other materials) and the costs of establishing the permanent residence. The student will also receive 1.699 euros per month for other expenses.

¿What are the necessary documents and requirements to receive a Fulbright?

At the Fulbright’s website you will find all the necessary forms that need to be filled out and sent to the commission. It is useful to know that the first step of the application can be completed through the Internet.

The necessary documents include an essay of no more than 4.000 words explaining the study project which would be carried out in case of receiving the scholarship. In this text the student must include his or her motivations for following these studies, as well as the accomplishments and results expected after completing them.

The student must suggest at least three academic institutions in the United States where the proposed study project could be carried out, sorting them in order of preference. Along with the Curriculum Vitae, the applicant must also send copies of certificates and academic titles that accredit his academic situation. The student must also include other personal information (ID, passport, recent photograph) and three letters of recommendation signed by members of the academic community where he or she has studied. These are very important, since they give credit to the academic career and efficiency of the student. They must be written in English.

Dates: Projects can be submitted until November 29.
